Kartik Rawat
Founder24 years old
At just 24, Kartik has already logged hundreds of days on Himalayan trails across Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. A passionate outdoor content creator with over 60K followers on Instagram, he built HeyHikers from the ground up — turning years of firsthand trek experience into a company that puts safety, honesty, and the joy of the mountains first. His belief: every person who wants to experience the Himalayas deserves a guide who genuinely knows the way.
Who we are
HeyHikers is a Dehradun-based trekking outfit running guided expeditions across the Garhwal, Kumaon, and Himachal Himalayas. We are a small, owner-operated team — every batch is led by a certified mountaineer and supported by local Garhwali or Himachali guides who grew up on the trails we walk.
What we believe
We believe a great trek is built on three things: safety, honesty, and respect for the mountain. We cap group sizes at 16 trekkers per leader, carry supplemental oxygen and pulse oximeters on every high-altitude departure, and run a strict turn-around protocol — no summit is worth pushing a tired or symptomatic trekker through. We do not run any trek that we have not personally scouted.
Where we operate
- Uttarakhand — 21 treks across Garhwal and Kumaon, including Kedarkantha, Kuari Pass, Roopkund, Valley of Flowers, and Bali Pass.
- Himachal Pradesh — 18 treks across Kullu, Kangra, Lahaul, Spiti, and Kinnaur, including Hampta Pass, Pin Parvati Pass, Triund, and Bhrigu Lake.
How we work with the mountains
We follow a strict Leave No Trace protocol on every trek. All non-biodegradable waste is carried back to the roadhead. We use existing campsites and never cut new ones. We pay local porters at standard daily rates set by the Indian Mountaineering Foundation. Where possible, we use shared transport, source food locally, and stay in village homestays rather than building new infrastructure.
Our team
Our trek leaders are certified by either the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (NIM, Uttarkashi) or the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering (ABVIMAS, Manali). All carry current Wilderness First Responder certifications. Our basecamp staff have an average of 8 years of experience working the trails we run.
